Major Asphaltic Overlay Project to begins in Ayawaso East

Ayawaso East, Accra – August 6, 2026 – The Paramount Chief of Nima, Nii Futa, joined the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso East, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim (Mallam Fari), the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Hon. Baba Jamal, Assembly Members, and officials from the contracting firm to officially cut the sod for the commencement of the Asphaltic Overlay Project in the municipality.

Major Asphaltic Overlay Project to begins in  Ayawaso East

The ceremony marks the commencement of a major road rehabilitation initiative aimed at enhancing transportation, improving safety, and stimulating economic activity within the municipality.

The Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly (AEMA) expressed profound appreciation to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, for their continued commitment to improving road infrastructure across the country.

Roads to Benefit from the Project: The Asphaltic Overlay Project will be carried out on the following roads: Mallam Mahabe Street Alhaji Norga Street Torgbor Link Mallam Futa Road / Mallam Suraqa Rev. Dogbe Street Mallam Kamarudeen / Nima Hospital Road Alhaji Mayaki Street Yaya Seidu Street Islamic Research Street Chief Tanko Street / Imam Amadu Amasscy Commey Street / Mallam Hamza Chief Ali Kado & Links Hill Street Oku Street Al-Waleed Bin Talal Highway Sal Valley Sal Valley Close Mole Street Mallam Mutala Street

The roads selected for rehabilitation have a combined length of 11,270 metres. Depending on the condition of each road, the works will include asphaltic overlay, resurfacing, sectional repairs, and pothole patching to ensure durable and high-quality road infrastructure.

Speaking at the ceremony, municipal officials reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to delivering projects that improve the quality of life for residents. They noted that the initiative will significantly enhance mobility, reduce travel time, improve road safety, and facilitate commercial activities throughout the municipality.
