Hon. Mohammed Nurudeen Calls on Muslims to Invest in Integrated Schools as a Path to Social Mobility

ACCRA, GHANA — The Chairman of the Education Sub-Committee for the Adentan Municipal Assembly, Honorable Mohammed Nurudeen, has called on the Muslim community to prioritize investment in schools that offer both Islamic and secular curricula.

Hon. Nurudeen made the appeal while serving as the chairperson at the weekend graduation ceremony of the Al Ra'id International Community School in Ashale Botwe. In his address, he stressed that the future of Muslim educational advancement lies in institutions that do not separate academic achievement from faith-based learning.

He urged the Ummah to channel resources into establishing and sustaining schools that blend the two systems effectively, arguing that this approach is essential for the overall development of Muslim children.

“We must work towards creating educational centres that provide both secular knowledge and Islamic teachings. That is the way forward for our community,” he said. “I also encourage everyone to support fellow Muslims who are taking the lead in this sector. When we come together, we not only expand educational access but also create employment opportunities for our youth.”

Hon. Nurudeen, who also serves as the Assembly Member for New Adenta, described education as the single most powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty and achieving upward social mobility. However, he cautioned that this goal would remain out of reach unless there is a deliberate and strategic investment in educational infrastructure within Muslim communities.

He further emphasized that individual progress must translate into communal gain, adding that collective funding of dual-curriculum schools would not only generate jobs but also offer families a sustainable route out of economic hardship and into greater social standing.
